My parents were not ambitious people themselves, so they weren’t driven by, you know, like a lot of middle class parents quite often are. You know, in some ways they weren’t bothered, as long as I was happy. But my dad was good, so he wouldn’t put me off, he’d never sort of say, ‘You can’t do that,’ or, ‘That won’t happen.’ He just tried, he’d either keep silent if he thought it was unrealistic or he’d find ways to help, you know.
