David Bush: Broken Windows

David was born in 1948 in Slough, Berkshire. After spending over two years in hospital and one year at home with a tutor, David was sent to a residential special school at the age of eight. He remained there until he was sixteen, when he attended a mainstream college.

Here David describes a lack of repair in the school.

We did have one or two broken or cracked windows which were probably self-inflicted, I think the attitude of the staff was 'Well, you broke 'em you can put up with it'. I can still remember lying in bed with the wind blowing my hair on a nice winter's night, that was not very pleasant.
