Deborah Sowerby: Left Behind

Deborah was born in 1949 in London. She spent some time in hospital as a young child and then was sent to a residential special school in East Sussex at the age of five, staying there until she was sixteen and then going on to Art School.

I didn't expect anyone to like me, I always imagined that people didn't really like me, but I had, you know I was apparently popular, I was never on my own, I enjoyed my friends, but then my friends, I was moved into a different class and left my friends behind effectively.
