Ray Kathleen D’Arcy: Protective Teachers


Ray was born in Egypt in 1926. Her father was in the army and the family moved to England when Ray was five, settling in Leicester in 1932. Ray attended mainstream primary and secondary schools.

We had a very caring form mistress, quite nice, quite a good lady, single person, lived on London Road. They were all quite good actually. Perhaps quite protective of me in one way because I was the only one at school at that time in my five years there, I was the only one who was physically impaired.
