David Filmer: Feeling Different
David Filmer was born in 1970 in London. At six his family moved to Hampshire, where he attended his local mainstream primary school. Then aged ten he went to two residential special schools, first in Reading and then Hampshire. He returned to the mainstream at sixteen, attending a local sixth form college and went on to university.

I don't think that I considered myself much different to most of the other kids around me until, probably later on, around the ages of seven or eight was probably the first time that I started to feel a little bit different from other kids and being singled out for support of different sorts, you know physiotherapy, or assistance with going to the loo.Explore more
