Mavis Parris: Grammar School

Mavis was born in 1940 in Fulham, London. She attended a local special school from age five to age sixteen and from there went on to a job with the Gas Board.

Where we lived in Fulham, the grammar school was just two minutes down the road and they wouldn’t let me leave to go to grammar school, because I wore a calliper and they wouldn’t take me.
