Tara Flood: Swimming Lessons

Tara was born in 1966 in Preston, Lancashire. She was sent to a residential special school in East Sussex at just sixteen months of age and remained there until she was sixteen. She then returned to Preston and attended a local mainstream college.

We were all thrown into the pool, literally, oh God, very young, two or three. I remember it happening. And those of us that literally bobbed to the surface were just sort of like, oh great, let’s really sort of get on, and those that didn’t were just sort of pulled out.
