Jack Baxter: Whack!

Jack was born in 1931 in Morecambe in Lancashire. As a boy he helped his father on the family fishing boat, not starting school until the age of thirteen. After school he went back to his life as a fisherman with his father and brother.

One lad next to me you know what he did? He went like this... write it down copy it off mine, his on mine, on no he copied it off mine on his, teacher came and told him off. Yes they send him off sent him out, teacher sent him out, he went, he got a book, he put it in the back of his pants. The teacher gave him the cane. Whack! Broke his cane in half!
