Micheline Mason: Home Tuition
Micheline Mason was born in 1950 in Kingston, Surrey. Micheline lived with her family in Croydon, Surrey, having home tuition until the age of thirteen when she left home to attend a residential special school in Hampshire. She then went on to Art college.
Here Micheline talks about her parents’ decision to educate her at home.

They just didn’t know what to do with me. In those days you didn’t go to mainstream school, you couldn’t manage the toilet and all that. So that wasn’t even on the cards. And they didn’t want me to go to a special school ‘cause they thought I just wouldn’t get an education. So their solution was home tuition.Explore more
